Another Monday, another playlist to shop to (or work to, or work out to). I try and theme them out when it’s my turn and this one was no different. I became a teenager in the mid-90s and angry teenage-dom was high during that time – after the excess of the 80s, grunge came smacking through the front door and delivered for an entire generation. It was loud and angry and wonderful and pretty and ranged from sounding like someone had recorded it in their garage to the shiniest of discs (I’m looking at you Title of Record). I chose songs extremely carefully for this one and included the ones that still get me all fired up 25 years later (god that makes me sound old).
For all of those teenagers that are listening to auto-tuned rappers or Justin Bieber, understand this: these bands weren’t fucking around. They had integrity, they brought grit to their performances and they weren’t to be fucked with. We’ll be introducing some new items to the shop this week but I urge you to just enjoy the following songs the way they were meant to be enjoyed: As loud as mother-fucking possible. – Female GG
