In my ongoing quest to find apps that will help with our debt paydown journey, I came across this little gem a few weeks ago and finally had the time to sit down and start an account.
In a nutshell, Prism links up all of your accounts that you pay bills to (utilities, credit card accounts, entertainment such as Disney+, Spotify, Netflix) and helps you pay them all from one place instead of logging into multiple accounts. You can enter how often you get paid so it anticipates how much money you will have in your account at any point during the month and you’ll be able to see how much you’ll have to pay towards bills on a weekly basis.
Every month I log in to all of these places and god help me if I forget a password because then we go down the rabbit hole of sending verified four number text messages to get back into my accounts and change my password, which can take ages and leave me wanting to drink at 10:00 a.m. Now, I’m not saying that setting this up was easy as you have to enter in all usernames and passwords for each account you want to link in the app. It took me 40 minutes but now that it’s all in there, this app is a fucking godsend.
Me – “Have you paid your minimums on Discover and Bank of America?”
AFH – “I’ll do it later.”
Me – “Did you ever pay those minimums?”
AFH – “Yep.”
Me – “How much were they so I can make sure we don’t overpay other accounts and still have some money in our account for groceries?”
AFH – “I have to log back in but I’ll let you know soon.”
Now, this is no fault of my husband’s, it’s just that I want this fucking information now so I can figure out all the rest of the bills. And Prism, eliminates me being a nag which makes both AFH and myself very happy.
Because nothing eliminates sexy time quicker than your husband calling you a nag. Surprisingly, I don’t find it endearing.
You can set it so that you’ll get reminded a week before your bill is due, pay it through the app, see how much you have left on a credit card (which is HUGE because this helps for my “Suck It Debt” posts), and also enroll in Autopay. I’m not ready for that yet as we’re still paying off mass amounts of debt and I need to know when we have extra money to throw at credit cards but eventually I’ll be using the shit out of that tool. As an added bonus, you can also add in yearly payments (I’m looking at you Amazon Prime membership) so it’s not a huge surprise when all of a sudden you owe $119 at the end of the year because Prism would add it into that month’s bills and have you be prepared.
You can also change the color scheme which I love because I’m a child.
It’s free, it’s pretty and it has all of your information in one place to help you never miss another bill ever again. WIN WIN WIN! Go ahead and try it and let me know what you think. Another app that will help you get to your debt-free goal is a no brainer and I’m going to keep finding these so we can all get there quicker. My Scrooge McDuck laying in piles of money day is coming, even if I have five million apps on my damn phone… – FemaleGG
